Course Number : TPR9
Practical Drilling Strings & Solids Control
Objectives:

Unscheduled events sabotage, many drilling budgets. Learn to recognize the signals when “ the well is talking to you “ before downtime events occur. When these unscheduled events occur, know what immediate steps should be taken tom minimize their economic effect. A successful drilling operation requires knowledge of many factors other than increasing penetration rates. A thorough understanding of the drilling process and theory highlighted with calculations and practical experiences. Will give you the tools to minimize drilling costs. Successful participants will be able to decrease nonproductive drilling time and enhance drilling performance.

Course outlines:
Pore pressure determination
Well control procedures: mudlogger, killing well , barite plugs
Hole cleaning
Drilling fluid: polymers, biocide, water-base, oil base
Drilled solids management
Pressure integrity tests
Hydraulic optimization (on-site)
Hole problems: ballooning, hole stability, stuck pipe prevention, dog legs , lost returns
